Icefalls
The Valnontey valley offers unforgettable climbing in unspoilt scenery, where you can find the pure wilderness experience.
A taste of some icefalls:
 
 
1 - Thoule III/3 • 100M:
an accessible icefall close to the Hotel La Barme with a steep second pitch leading to an abseil descent. Approach 50 min • Alt. 1800M
 
2 - Valmiana II/3 • 120M:
a classic icefall winding its way through impressive rock scenery.
Approach 50 min • Alt. 1750M
 
3 - Sentiero dei Troll III/3 • 350M:
a great route which is long and with an interesting succession of ice steps.
Approach 1H • Alt. 1750M
 
4 - Erfaulet III/4 • 220M:
a splendid route deep in a river gorge, but just be careful after fresh snow fall, as it can sometimes avalanche.
Approach 1h30 • Alt. 1900M
 
5 - Patri II/4 • 250M:
a great long route which is the classic of the valley with several different finishes up to 5+. The classic ascent is both on the left and right, while the central pillar which rarely forms offers a fascinating climb. Approach 1h30 • Alt. 1950M
 
6 - Acheronte II/3 • 300M:
situated high up in a deep long couloir this icefall offers continual interest of average difficulty. It remains in condition till late into the season.

7 - Repentance super V/6 • 220M:
this well known test piece can be seen high up on the valley side, forming most winters.

8 -Monday Money IV/4 • 200M:
a fantastic route of its grade set in magnificent mountain scenery with equipped abseil descent.

9 - Fallo di Plutone III/4 • 100M:
a beautiful and quiet icefall in condition till late in the season.
