The valley of Valnontey is a breathtaking wilderness of imposing peaks and the icy white veins of glaciers, which offer enchanted sleigh rides on the snow, quiet walks in the wooded silence of the forest, cross-country skiing, snow shoeing, ski mountaineering and icefall climbing in an unspoilt landscape.

Icefalls:
Valnontey offers a wide variety of icefalls which you can climb during the winter months. At the Hôtel la Barme, a drying room is available for you to use after a long day out on the hill.

Cross-country skiing:
the 80 km of pisted tracks layed out by Cogne’s commune wind their way through the woods and valley bottoms. The circuits are regular venues for both World Cup and local competitions such as «Marcia Gran Paradiso ». Besides you can take advantage of the hire directly from the Hôtel La Barme.

Alpine skiing:
a small and quiet area directly in the Park composed of 5 slopes, to ski in quietness and without doing the queues, or the «snow-park» with rolling carpet, to learn skiing playing with teddy bears, lions and punching-ball.

Snow shoeing:
you can hire directly from the Hôtel La Barme. There are various routes around the forest where you will find silence and solitude, being close to nature.

Ski mountaineering:
towards the end of the season there are several beautiful itineraries offering you a mixture of one or several days giving you access to the imposing peaks of the Gran Paradiso massif.

Walks:
a quiet pisted path follows the Valnontey river for about 10 km.

Horse riding:
a romantic sleigh ride to the old village of Valmiana.

For the children:
in Cogne, there is a crèche for the children which is brightly coloured and well equipped with games and toys. There is also a snow park with rolling carpet which is fun for all the family.
